Knowing God, Knowing You

A.W. Tozer said in His book, “Knowledge of the Holy” that, “We tend by a secret law of the soul to move toward our mental image of God. This is true not only of the individual Christian, but of the company of Christians that composes the Church. Always the most revealing thing about the Church is her idea of God,”

Jesus said in John 17:3, “Now this is eternal life: that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” Jesus is saying that “knowing God” is the most important thing. Knowing God and thinking rightly about God will begin to allow you to think rightly about who you are.

Daniel 11:32 says, “..they that know their God will be strong and do exploits.” The word ‘know’ here is “yada” in hebrew which translates “knowing God relationally”. God is “Yahweh” which in Hebrew is God’s personal name. “I Am” or “I Exist”. Therefore yada’ Yahweh is an invitation to know Yahweh and to understand our existence.

What this scripture is implying is When you know God you begin to understand why you exist. You were born to know God! To move in who you are in Christ! Doing exploits!

You can’t even begin to find yourself, your call, nor your purpose until your mind has been properly transformed and you begin to think rightly about God. Until you think rightly about God, you will not think rightly about your life.

What is the starting block of knowing God? THE WORD OF GOD! Yes, the B-I-B-L-E.

The greatest witnesses of the Christian faith were men that knew God personally. Men and women like Smith Wigglesworth and Kathryn Kulhman, men like Paul.

Jesus said of, “Apart from Me you can do nothing.” He also said, “If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.” Jesus says that God will grant every petition that you ask IN MY NAME.This is one of the important reasons for knowing God is so that you know how to pray the will of God.

When Jesus said, “…pray in My Name” He wasn’t saying use my name religiously as a tag along for prayer. But “pray in My place.” in other words, “Pray like I would, do what I would do.” When you pray in Jesus name, you are actually praying His place as He would in the earth.

This was the secret of Jesus. Yes He baptized in the Holy Ghost, but His secret to releasing the power of God was locked up in knowing God.I only do what I see my Father doing.

John 5:19 “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by himself; he can do only what he sees his Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. 20For the Father loves the Son and shows him all he does. Yes, to your amazement he will show him even greater things than these.

The word “see” in John 5:19 is the greek word “blepo” which translates “to have the power to understand”. So the key to releasing the power of God is understanding what God is doing and why He is doing it! God’s will is to heal people, that is what He is doing, and I can release that because I know He is doing it.
